How I Got It
From the bargain book section at Barnes & Noble. The price was $5.98 + tax.
The original price was $21.95 + tax!

When I Got It
Gosh, I really don't remember.....
All I know is that I've had it for a couple of years now -- maybe 4 or 5.

Why I Want To Read It
This author's work has been compared to that of J.R.R. Tolkien. That automatically makes a book worthy to join my collection! Also, I think that this cover is one of the MOST beautiful I've ever seen!  I really need to get this one under my belt pretty soon.....

What do you think of this book?
Have you read it, and if so,
did you like it?
Please leave a comment and
let me know!

I have also heard a lot of good things about Mercedes Lackey.

I also want to give a book or two her's a try.

I agree this is a great cover. The covers of many of her books are impressive.

Hey, Brian!

Oh, I know -- her books look SO fascinating!! I've been wanting to read them for quite some time now.... And I do own this one, so I should start there!

Yes, this is a really great cover! I haven't featured it on "Shelf Candy Saturday",but I think I will. I have previously featured three other Lackey book covers -- "Arrows of the Queen", on 10/26/13, "Storm Breaking", on 11/16/13, and "Winds of Change", on 2/1/14. The artist is Jody A. Lee, who has created many stunning covers for Lackey's novels!

I just might use this cover this very week! I LOVE it!!

Thanks for commenting!! Happy Wednesday!! :)

My husband introduced me to Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar books in college, with the Herald Vanyel trilogy, and I was hooked ever since. Such an imaginative world. I wish I had my own Companion . . . I hope you do enjoy this book when you read it!

Hi, Wendy!

Oh, your husband has GREAT taste in fantasy! I haven't read any of her books yet. I will probably start with this one, since I do have it on hand. I know I'll enjoy it, as well as any others I might have! (I do think some of the others are in storage....oh, well, I'll just have to buy them again! Lol.)
