From the Goodreads Synopsis

At the center of all the entwined lives in Newford stands a young artist named Jilly Coppercorn, with her tangled hair, her paint-splattered jeans, a smile perpetually on her lips--Jilly, whose paintings capture the hidden beings that dwell in the city's shadows. Now, at last, de Lint tells Jilly's own story...for behind the painter's fey charm lies a dark secret and a past she's labored to forget.
And that past is coming to claim her now.

How I Got It
I purchased this book on eBay.

When I Got It
Sometime back in 2006.

Why I Want To Read It
This writer is one of my favorite authors, even though I've only read one of his books, titled Dreams Underfoot, which is the first book in his acclaimed Newford series.

He's an incredible prose stylist, and creator of the most amazing fantasy plots! His characters are all memorable. I rank him right up there with Tolkien, although his brand of fantasy is of the urban type.

Charles de Lint is also a prolific writer, and I don't think I'll ever be able to get to all of his wonderful books in my lifetime! I would like to at least read his entire Newford series. Hopefully, I will!

You can visit Charles de Lint's
website HERE.

I have heard wonderful things about Charles de Lint. I have a couple of his books (or rather my husband does) that I hope to get to at some point. Urban fantasy is one of my favorite genres and it seems like a crime that I haven't read anything by him.

Hi, Wendy!

Oh, you definitely MUST read his work, especially since urban fantasy is one of your favorite genres! I remember I was just MESMERIZED by "Dreams Underfoot", and just couldn't get enough of the characters in this book! It's a collection of stories, all interconnected, too, as the same characters appear in several of the stories.

I really need to get to "The Onion Girl"!! It's the in-depth of one of the characters in "Dreams Underfoot", who is an artist. She lives the life I wish I had had.....

So go grab one of your husband's de Lint books, and plunge in!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! <3 :)

So glad you're joining in for Shelf Control!!! I really would like to read more Charles De Lint. I've been wanting to start the Newford series, but it seems like such a big undertaking! Meanwhile, I've read one of his books, The Mystery of Grace, and loved it.

Hi, Lisa!

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, I really like the way you've set up this meme! Plus I like the meme button, in both of its forms -- the square and the rectangle!

De Lint is definitely a MAJOR fantasy talent!! He's so imaginative, and is able to hold the reader's interest all the way to the end of the tale!

The Newford series is probably his most famous one, but of course, he has many, many books, since he's such a prolific writer. I haven't heard of "The Mystery of Grace". Gotta look it up!

Thanks so much for coming by and commenting back!! :)
